Alpena, Michigan

I don't know how it happened. One minute we're driving to a city in northeastern Michigan called Alpena and the next minute, me and my brother are in "the drink", riding dangerous waves.

Just kidding. We're really in the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary museum. There was a case in the nearby Thunder Bay, an aquatic monster of some kind was snatching children from the shores and from off of boats. But the weather wasn't agreeing with an excursion out on Lake Huron, so we decided to walk around the local museum until it cleared up.

Not having many chances to be aboard a ship, me and Sammy jumped at the opportunity to climb aboard this vessel and explore.

                                                              "Man the masts..."

"Cap'n, set a course five clicks east..."

"No talkin' back to the Captain, you scurvy sea dog. Now walk the plank..."

All that pirating had exhausted us. And yes, there's plenty of room for the both of us in this cabin, but remember, my baby brother is allergic to personal space.

Yes, your eyes are messing with your head. This picture is straight...you're not. Just kidding. We're straight and this window isn't. It's to simulate what it would look like if one was to be on board a ship while it's capsizing. Everything was designed slightly off-centered to give you the feel of a rocking ship. Sammy had to excuse himself to the bathroom after this exhibit. It seems that the phrase "one if by land, two if by sea" doesn't apply to the Winchesters. Oh, and nothing by air either. We'll be doing all of our traveling by car, thank you very much.

Just down the road was another museum, and seeing how the weather was still not approving of us going out onto the lake (not to mention the way Sam had yakked after a mere simulation of a rocky boat ride), we decided to go visit that place as well. We made some friends...

                                                     And some enemies...

We needed an escape from the dangers inside, so we decided to head on outside and take our chances with the local quarry. And of course we "followed" the rules on the signs around us.

We did manage to make it out onto the lake and investigate the case that we had driven there for. Turned out it was a Kelpie. A Scottish shape-shifting water spirit that can take on the form of a man, woman or horse, depending on the prey they are trying to devour. How a Scottish creature got all the way into Lake Huron, I have no idea. And while that kinda stuff irritates Sammy, not knowing every little thing about it, like how it got to be here, I'm more of a "it's here now and hurting people, it's gotta go" kinda person. So after shooting it in the heart with a silver bullet (as per research had requested), we beheaded it and S&B the remains....you know, just in case.

So Alpena Michigan was an interesting place. We killed ourselves an real-life sea monster, Sammy threw up his guts and I got to be captain of a ship for a hot-minute.

                                                                  Life's good for the Winchesters.
